Japan is the world’s second largest economy. The need for Japanese speakers is greater than ever in order to build commercial links and develop markets with Japan. This major combines study of Japanese language, society, culture and business etiquette with core papers that equip graduates with skills in communication, technology and research.
WHAT THIS PROGRAMME COVERS
Graduates achieve fluency in all areas of language required for daily communication, both in and out of the workplace. They also develop an awareness of cultural, social and business differences between New Zealand and Japan.
Students will develop communications skills and learn about the Japanese language, Kanji and grammar.
CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
Japanese graduates are extremely competitive in the current economic climate, and are able to pursue a wide range of careers, including business, import/export, retail, hospitality, information technology, telecommunications, airlines, travel, tourism, translating, interpreting, consultancy, research, postgraduate study and teaching.
